Meet Butters! We estimate he was born in September 2022 and he currently weighs around 40 pounds. Butters is an intelligent and kind soul. He can be a bit shy when you first meet him, but once he warms up, he'll shower you with love! He has such a wonderful enthusiasm for life and enjoys playing with his doggy friends, exploring the yard, and spending time with his people.
Ideal Home
Butters thrives with a family who can continue his training and help him maintain boundaries. Due to his past habits of jumping and his size, we are seeking a home with teens or adults only. He is not considered hypoallergenic and we are looking for a cat-free household. A securely and visibly fenced yard (at least 4ft high and connected to the house, excluding driveways and car access) is a must, and shock/electronic fences will not be approved.
Ongoing Health
Butters has the front leg anatomy similar to Basset Hounds or Dachshunds, with one leg being overly twisted. This doesn't hinder his play or running, but he may experience discomfort if he overextends himself. We are unsure of the long-term prognosis for this, and he might not be suited for extensive hiking or running without modifications.
Training & Support
Butters used to jump on people and grab hands for attention, but he no longer does this in his foster home. He will need a family dedicated to continuing his training and reinforcing boundaries. He also has a strong interest in collecting items that don't belong to him (like dish towels, cans, or clothes) and may chew them if not supervised. He crates well and is quiet when inside. A sturdy, high-quality crate (e.g., Impact, Ruffland, Skyline, Zinger Winger) is required.

Transportation
Butters is currently in foster care in Poulsbo, WA. Meet and greets will also take place there. We are considering homes in Western Washington and potentially Oregon. No other out-of-state adoptions are available at this time. The adoption donation is $400.00, which helps cover his transport, vaccines, daily care, and food.
