Diego is a handsome 2-year-old boy, weighing approximately 60 lbs, who is eager to find his forever family. His past has been filled with uncertainty, as he was surrendered by his previous owner and later found that his adoptive home was not the right fit. Despite these challenges, Diego remains an affectionate, loyal, and protective companion who loves his people. He is house-trained, knows basic commands like "sit," "down," "bed/place," and "go," and is great with adults and children. Diego is incredibly smart and thrives when he has a chance to learn and grow.
Ideal Home
Diego would thrive in a home that understands his past experiences have shaped him, and is prepared to offer him patience and consistency as he continues to learn. A securely fenced yard is a must, as Diego has a high prey drive and is a skilled jumper. He is not a good fit for homes with cats. Due to his overstimulation and survival instincts around other animals, he would do best with dogs his own size, and slow introductions are recommended.
Ongoing Health
Diego is fully vetted and is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which is covered by the rescue.
Training & Support
Diego is still learning to navigate the world as a dog and is working on leash manners, structure, obedience, and building trust. He has already made significant progress, but will benefit from an adopter who can continue to provide him with guidance and consistency. He has a very high prey drive and can exhibit excitement and reactivity around other animals due to overstimulation and survival instincts.
