About Odie

Hi, I'm Odie! I'm a 4-year-old, 65-pound black Rottweiler mix looking for a new home where I can feel safe, understood, and supported. My life didn't start out easy, but I'm trying hard every day to overcome my anxieties. I bond deeply with my people once I trust them, and I'm very gentle with babies. I love my toys and know several commands like sit, speak, and shake. I get the zoomies and really do want to please!

Ideal Home

I'm looking for a home with an experienced dog owner who is patient, steady, and confident. Someone who understands fear-based behaviors and can set clear boundaries while still being gentle. I'm not a match for a timid handler or a first-time dog owner. I would do best in a household without young children under 14 years of age. I am not good with cats.

Ongoing Health

I am neutered and house trained. I am on Reconcile to help with my anxiety.

Training & Support

I can be nervous with new people and protective of my person, especially my mom, and may bark or growl when strangers come near. I struggle with the crate as it scares me, and getting me inside can be tough. When I'm left alone, I do best when I'm given access to just one room. Since a baby arrived, I've been more stressed and sometimes get into things like trash or random objects. I can become overstimulated and redirect to those around me. I have had a single bite incident; my current owner was pulling me away from the screen door as I was barking at the mailman, and I turned and bit her hand. I would do best going to a home that will provide me with training to teach me that I can relax around strangers and do not need to defend the household.
