Monte

Monte is a delightful, energetic, and loving neutered pit bull mix, weighing about 89 pounds. At around 3 years old, he’s full of life and ready to find his forever home. He enjoys running zoomies in the yard and relaxing with a good chew bone. Monte is fantastic with new people outside the house and is always a hit at the vet. At home, he’s cautious initially but relaxes once introduced by his people. He loves cuddles and thinks he’s a small lap dog, despite his size. Monte is eager to find a loving family to share his life with!

Ideal Home

Monte would do best in a home without children under 10 years old. He also needs to be in a cat-free home. He gets along well with other dogs his size but plays rough, so future housemates should be at least 40 pounds.

Ongoing Health

Monte has undergone TPLO surgery on his right hind leg and has been cleared for adoption. He has a partially torn cruciate on his left hind leg, but his vet advises against surgery unless he shows signs of pain.

Training & Support

Monte knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, and go to your crate. He waits for his food until released and is crate-trained. He will yip when he needs to go outside. He gets excited on leash and still pulls, though he calms down after a while. His foster parents taught him not to jump, and his new family will need to continue reinforcing this behavior.
