Meet Sparkle, an 8-year-old husky mix who is ready to add some glitz and glam to your life! She has truly stolen the hearts of our staff and volunteers with her sweet nature and resilient spirit. Sparkle is functionally blind, which means she navigates the world through her other amazing senses. While she's doing well now, she may need future surgery to remove her eyes. This means she's looking for a very special adopter who is prepared to commit to her unique needs. Our clinic team is available to discuss her care with any potential adopters.
Ideal Home
Sparkle would thrive in a home where her adopter understands and can accommodate her visual impairment. She has shown great adaptability in new environments, learning to navigate spaces with confidence. She enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely do well with canine siblings.
Ongoing Health
Sparkle is functionally blind. While she is currently comfortable, there is a possibility that she may require surgery to remove her eyes in the future. Our veterinary team is committed to her well-being and can provide detailed information about her ongoing care.
Training & Support
Sparkle is mostly house-trained, with only one observed instance of an accident indoors that was quickly corrected. She is very food-motivated, which will be a great asset in her training. She loves to play with squeaky toys and thoroughly enjoys snuggling. She has a charming way of demanding attention with gentle nudges and soft vocalizations. While she was a bit hesitant to enter a car, she was happy to be carried in, and with slow and steady introductions, she became more comfortable.

Transporation
Sparkle is currently located at our Santa Cruz location. Our shelter hours are 11 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week. While you can view animals in their kennels during open hours, "meet and greets" (meeting an animal outside of their kennel) conclude at 4:30 pm daily. To ensure you have ample time to meet Sparkle, please arrive before 4:00 pm.
