Chewy is a friendly and sweet boy, approximately 8 years old and weighing around 17 lbs, though he needs to lose a bit of weight. He arrived at Mostly Mutts from animal control and is eager to find his forever home. Chewy is a gentle soul who loves to cuddle and be held. He was a little nervous at first, but his loving personality quickly shone through. He even did a great job during his bath and enjoyed being held afterward! Chewy is described as a "chunky monkey" due to being overfed in his previous home, so he's looking for a family to help him reach a healthier weight through proper nutrition, exercise, and a special salt-free green bean diet. He's energetic enough for walks and playtime, with an energy level of 3-5.
Ideal Home
Chewy is looking for a family who will cherish him. While he hasn't met other dogs or children at Mostly Mutts, introductions are encouraged! He would do best in a home without toddlers who might accidentally bump into him or fall on him. Cats are unknown.
Ongoing Health
Chewy is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. He has moderate tartar on his teeth, and his adoptive family should consult with their vet about a potential dental cleaning in the future.
Training & Support
Chewy is participating in the Mostly Mutts University training program and is eager to learn. He has good crate manners at Mostly Mutts, but he has been having accidents on the shelter schedule, so he will need his new family to help him with potty training. He enjoys his food a bit too much, so portion control and a healthy diet will be important. He wasn't a fan of ear cleaning or nail trims during his bath.
