Big Mama is an affectionate, athletic, adventure-loving 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier mix who enjoys going on walks and meeting new people! She was a hefty girl when found, weighing over 70lbs, but has since reached a healthier weight of around 60lbs. Big Mama was discovered lying in the middle of a road before a kind couple rescued her. Unfortunately, their own dog was not good with other canines, and with no alternative plan, they surrendered Big Mama to a local shelter. Due to her breed mix, she was placed on the euthanasia list after her stray hold. Thankfully, her original finders worked tirelessly to network and get her to our rescue for safety! Big Mama is incredibly people-friendly and loves to cuddle. She can be a bit unaware of her size when she's zooming around the yard at high speeds, but this girl can MOVE! She even used to jump onto a tall patio table to sunbathe at her finder's home! While she loves to lounge indoors, it's gametime once she's outside!
Ideal Home
Big Mama has done well with most of the dogs she's met, but she seems to do best with medium to large male dogs. She can be more assertive with female dogs, so a home with only male dogs would be ideal. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, she does not require a canine sibling to live her best life. Due to her energy level and her tendency to be unaware of her size, a home without young children is recommended.
