Ritchey Roo, affectionately known as Richard, is an estimated 5-6 year old, 90-pound bundle of joy! This handsome boy is the definition of "exuberant" and "jubilant," but don't let that fool you – he's also a surprisingly laid-back companion. Ritchey is a true people-pleaser who thrives on human connection and loves to lounge around, whether indoors or out. He's a happy camper who isn't shy about showing his affection and enjoys being in your presence. While he can be a quiet couch potato, be ready for an instant energy boost when a leash or you appear – he goes from zero to ten in a flash! Ritchey can be gentle, but he also has a playful, albeit sometimes overwhelming, exuberance that includes jumping, especially when food or a leash is involved. He might even offer a humorous "woof" when he has something to say, hinting at his hound heritage. Ritchey is house-trained and content on his own when you're away. He's also a skilled bed hog, but with a little training, he learned the command "OVER" to give you some space. He's not a big fan of toys or fetch but loves car rides and walks, though he does require leash training as he's a strong puller. Ultimately, Ritchey is happy lounging at home or running in a yard and is independent enough not to be a constant shadow. He's a favorite at boarding facilities for his easygoing nature and good company.
Ideal Home
A fenced yard is ideal for Ritchey to enjoy his bursts of energy. As he can be overwhelming with his excitement, especially around food or when a leash is present, a home where he can be the cherished only pet would be best.
Ongoing Health
Ritchey came to us underweight and has since gained to 90 lbs. He could benefit from a diet and increased physical activity to reach a healthier weight.
Training & Support
Ritchey requires leash training to manage his strong pulling. He also needs to be taught to manage his enthusiastic greetings, especially his jumping.
