Reuben

Meet Reuben! He's a playful and active boy who is learning to navigate new environments with confidence. Reuben is a quiet dog who rarely barks and walks well on leash. He loves chews, bones, and treats, and is very food motivated, making him responsive to training. He's an excellent car rider who enjoys being close to his person and loves following his people from room to room. Once he's comfortable, Reuben seeks out affection and enjoys relaxing beside his humans. He settles in his crate quickly, though he does need a strong, non-wire crate for the first few minutes. Reuben has lived successfully with cats and would enjoy a home with another playful dog.

Ideal Home

Reuben is looking for a patient family willing to let him build trust at his own pace. He can be shy and cautious with new people, especially when approached directly. He appears significantly more comfortable with women and may take much longer to build trust with men and young boys. Reuben would benefit from a fenced yard or regular opportunities to run and explore. Counter surfing is a favorite hobby, so keeping tempting items out of reach is recommended.

Reuben is flighty when unsure and will benefit from patient, confidence-building guidance. He needs a strong, non-wire crate as he initially tries to escape for the first 5 minutes.
