Salsa

Salsa is a charming 9.5-year-old, 19 lb female Dachshund with a big personality. She's playful, devoted, and loves to cuddle, always letting you know exactly how she feels. Salsa's past has been a bit uncertain, moving from place to place, which has made her protective of her belongings. She has shown resource guarding in previous homes with young children and other dogs, which requires awareness and experienced handling.

Ideal Home

Salsa would thrive in a calm, quiet household with older, respectful children (12+) or no children. An experienced adopter who understands the Dachshund temperament and can provide consistent structure, patience, and stability is essential.

Ongoing Health

Salsa has alopecia, which requires extra care for her skin. She needs protection from the elements and will happily wear sweaters or jackets. She also takes medication every second day to maintain her health and comfort.

Training & Support

Due to past experiences, Salsa can be protective. Her new home will need to be mindful and proactive in managing resources such as food, toys, and personal space. An experienced hand is needed to manage her resource guarding effectively.
