Hi there! My name is Toffee. I'm a 3-year-old, 52-lb female Australian Cattle Dog mix, and I'm a wonderfully calm and easygoing girl. While my breed mix might suggest I'm a bundle of energy, I'm actually quite the couch potato who loves cozy blankets, quiet time, and cuddling with a favorite stuffed toy. I spent some time on the streets before finding my way here, so I'm still learning that people can be kind and trustworthy. Because of this, I can be a little shy when we first meet, but I've never shown any fear-based aggression. Once I feel safe and secure, my sweet and loyal nature truly shines, and I form deep bonds with my people.
I do very well with other dogs and coexist peacefully. I'm not a super playful pup, but I'm happy to share my space with canine friends, as long as they respect my naps. Being startled from a deep sleep can be a little scary for me. I've also done well around cats. I haven't lived with children before, but I would likely do best with older kids who can move slowly and give me the time I need to build trust.
I'm crate trained and puppy pad trained, and I'm non-destructive when left out on my own. I'm continuing to gain confidence with leash walking and exploring the outdoors. With patience, reassurance, and consistency, I'm making progress every day. I've had a challenging start to life, but I am an incredibly sweet girl who deserves a loving forever home and a person willing to show me that the world isn't such a scary place. Dogs like me often grow into the most devoted companions once we know we're safe.
Ideal Home
A home with patient and understanding people who can give me the time and space I need to feel safe. Older children would be ideal. Respect for my naps is a must!
