Meet Knight!
Knight is a 50-pound Aussie mix with the most captivating mismatched eyes, a heart full of sweetness, and a spirit that shines even brighter because he's a tripod. This handsome boy navigates the world with three legs, but that doesn't slow down his love for play and life! He can be a bit reserved when first meeting new people, especially men, but his trust blossoms quickly once he feels secure. Knight is sensitive about his head and neck initially, so his ideal humans will understand the importance of letting him set the pace for physical affection. He just needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings and people, and he's a fast learner when it comes to feeling safe. Once he's comfortable, Knight is an incredibly sweet and friendly companion who thrives on being with his people. He's got a playful side and an active mind, though the shelter environment has made it a bit challenging for his true personality to shine. While he shows interest in other dogs and seems to desire canine friendships, he can be a bit hesitant when another dog engages. We believe he would greatly benefit from a gentle, respectful doggy friend who can offer companionship and a sense of confidence, perhaps even joining in on a playful zoomie session when the mood strikes!
Ideal Home
Knight's ideal home will be set up for his long-term success as a tripod. A physically fenced yard is a must, providing him a safe space to explore freely. A one-level home would be wonderful to make everyday activities easier on his body. While he doesn't need an extreme amount of activity, Knight requires daily physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep his body and clever mind happy. He's a smart boy who loves having things to do and excels when given opportunities for play and enrichment. He can do well with dog-savvy or independent cats, as he's shown only mild, brief interest. Older, respectful children are recommended so he can adjust at his own pace.
