Axel is a handsome, approximately 2-year-old Boxer mix who weighs around 54 lbs. He has the confident demeanor of a dog who knows what he wants and the athletic build to go with it. Axel was found abandoned, but it's their loss! He's a smart and enthusiastic companion who enjoys exploring and carrying his favorite "important" objects. He's motivated by food, learns quickly, and responds well to clear and consistent guidance. Axel is friendly but takes a moment to assess people, preferring older children who understand personal space and adults who appreciate a dog with a distinct personality. He's social with other dogs, particularly females, but enjoys his independence and can be a bit bossy during play. Axel would do best in a calmer environment and is not a fan of cats. He's house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to settle down once his needs are met. Axel has a moderate energy level, enjoying daily walks and playtime, after which he's content to relax. He could adapt to apartment living with enough exercise or would love a home with a yard.
Ideal Home
Axel is looking for laid-back, dog-savvy humans who appreciate a dog's unique personality. He would do best in a home with older children (10 years and up) and adults who understand he needs patience, structure, and humor. He's not a fan of cats.
Ongoing Health
Axel is a healthy boy with no specific health conditions mentioned.
Training & Support
Axel is potty-trained and crate-trained. He can be a little jumpy and excited on walks initially but settles down. He can be a bit bossy during play with other dogs but is not aggressive. He needs calm, confident direction and prefers not to "manage the entire situation."
