About Rina

Rina is a three-year-old with the social grace of someone who has never once needed to try too hard; she just waits, watches, and comes to you when she is ready. And she always comes. Rina was rescued from Jeongeup shelter just before euthanasia. She arrived in foster care with no medical history and an open heart – a three-year-old dog who had never been given a real chance, and who turned out to be one of the most socially gifted dogs her foster has ever known. Rina is calm and easy in the home. She has no separation anxiety; when left alone for 4 to 6 hours on weekdays, she naps quietly or plays with her foster dog companion. She almost never barks and has no destructive behavior of any kind. She has one endearing habit: after every walk, she goes directly to the bathroom to have her paws washed. It is part of her routine, and she initiates it herself. Rina has a quiet dignity that is hard to describe until you have seen it. She will not be rushed. But she will always come to you, and when she does, it feels earned. She deserves a family that understands that. She will give them everything in return.

Ideal Home

Rina fits into most homes – multi-dog or solo, as long as she gets her walks and her space is respected. She does best in a quieter neighborhood away from heavy urban noise. A yard or frequent outdoor access is a bonus. Most importantly, she needs a family that will let her come to them first – no grabbing, no rushing, no forcing contact before she is ready. Once she decides you are safe, she is devoted, easy, and a genuine joy to live with. Homes with very young children or a very loud, chaotic environment are not the right fit. Homes with very young children or children who may grab at her are not the right fit.

Ongoing Health

No past medical history. Currently in excellent health with no special care needs. No known allergies. She receives monthly parasite prevention with NexGard on the 18th of each month.

Training & Support

Rina does not rush to greet strangers. She watches first, approaches when she is ready, and when she gets there, she is fully present – curious, affectionate, and charming. She dislikes being grabbed or approached too forcefully and will quietly sidestep if someone moves into her space before she is ready. But she always comes back. She is immediately warm with women and warms up quickly with men once she hears their voice and decides they are safe. She is particularly fond of women in their 40s and 50s – her foster notes she visibly lights up around them. The one thing Rina needs from everyone: let her come to you first. Do not reach, do not rush. She will get there, and when she does, she is completely yours. Rina is genuinely gifted with other dogs. In foster care, she has served as a calm, grounding presence for anxious and shy foster dogs – her foster describes her as a helper dog who makes other fosters settle in faster than they ever would alone. On walks, she follows large dogs like Jindo mixes with enthusiasm and zero tension. With small dogs, she is equally easy. No resource guarding, no aggression, no drama. She is the dog other dogs relax around. Rina shows no notable reaction to cats on walks – glances and moves on. She has not been tested with cats in a home setting, and outdoor indifference alone does not confirm indoor safety. A careful introduction is recommended. Rina does well with calm children who give her space and let her approach first. She avoids children who rush toward her or reach out without warning. Rina needs approximately 140 minutes of daily exercise. She gets three walks – about an hour in the early morning, a short 20-minute midday outing, and another hour in the evening. She walks beautifully on leash and loves her routine. She greets other dogs warmly. Sudden loud noises cause her to freeze briefly; she recovers quickly with calm reassurance. Strangers who make sudden large gestures or raise their voices near her will cause her to pull back. On weekends, her foster takes her to a dog park where she runs and plays freely for hours.
