Meet Mingo!
I'm Mingo, a sweet and gentle Teddy Bear mix who's considered a distinguished senior at 10 years young and weighing in at 10.8 pounds. My biggest desire is to find a cozy spot to relax in my golden years, perhaps a plush bed or a warm lap – anything close to you is perfect! I came to the rescue as a transfer from the Green Bay Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society, thanks to a kind advocate who knew I needed more specialized care. My original owner sadly passed away, and I'm now looking for a loving forever home. I'm an outgoing and friendly guy who enjoys meeting everyone I encounter.
Ideal Home
A quiet adult home would be the best fit for me, as I'm a senior myself and would appreciate a calm environment. A low to moderate energy household would also be ideal, as I haven't shown much interest in playing with toys or other dogs. I haven't met cats, so I can't say how we'd get along. While I can get around well indoors, I might need a little help with steps and ramps when going outside, but I don't mind being picked up. I do enjoy leisurely strolls in a fenced yard, but please keep an eye on me so I don't wander off while I'm busy sniffing all the wonderful scents!
Ongoing Health
As a senior, I do have a few age-related considerations. My eyes are getting a bit cloudy, but it doesn't hinder my mobility. I also have a heart murmur that doesn't require medication at this time, but your veterinarian should monitor it during my routine check-ups. I do suffer from allergies, and a daily medication is necessary to keep those pesky itchies at bay. My coat has some thinning but is a beautiful mix of white, silver, and dark gray/black. As it grows in, it will require regular grooming, especially around my eyes and ears, to keep them clean.
Training & Support
I am working on my leash walking skills and am a good boy when it comes to potty breaks and doing my business outside, especially when kept on a routine. I also keep a clean crate and sleep soundly through the night. I am a good housemate to other dogs and observe their behavior cues.
