About DOLLY

Say hello to Dolly! She's doing well and even though she has a few years under her belt, she's still glowin', still crowin', and still goin' strong. She will snuggle into an empty lap given the chance, but she does enjoy getting her steps in and sometimes lets go with a song for no humanly-discernable reason. Dolly is a stronger dog that tends to pull on the leash when she really wants to get somewhere. She is a dog with a one-track mind when she's on a walk, and will do well with someone that has the physical capability to manage her pulling without being heavy-handed while helping Dolly discover the benefits of loose-leash walking through practice and positive reinforcement.

Ideal Home

Dolly would likely be happiest in the home as the sole star of the show, but may do well with a relaxed, well-socialized house-mate. She has not shown any signs of resource guarding during her stay, but can be a bit of a bulldozer sometimes when she has her mind set on something. She would likely match best in a family with older kids that won't be knocked over easily. Minors should be actively supervised during interactions to keep everyone safe.

Ongoing Health

Dolly has had surgery to remove a lump on her throat, which was determined to be a benign fatty mass (lipoma). As an older dog, she will still need more frequent routine vet appointments to ensure that she continues to age gracefully and that any concerns are caught early.

Training & Support

Positive reinforcement training will help Dolly not only learn new skills and fun tricks, but also help her to bond with her new owner while building confidence. Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home.
