Gina is a 8-month-old, 56lb Belgian Malinois mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit! She was found abandoned in a cardboard box by a busy road as a tiny puppy, but thanks to a wonderful foster family, she's now ready to find her forever home. Gina is a social butterfly with her canine companions and enjoys playing tug-of-war with her smaller foster siblings. While she can be a bit hesitant around unfamiliar, larger dogs due to a past negative experience, she lives harmoniously with dogs both under 15 lbs and over 75 lbs. She's still working on her excitement when she sees neighborhood cats, so a cat-free home is best for Gina. She also has a lot of puppy energy and is in the "velociraptor stage" of chewing, so she'll need guidance on appropriate chew toys. Gina loves her toys and has a habit of collecting them in her bed, and she's even learned to play fetch!
Ideal Home
Gina would do best in an active home with someone who will play with her daily and provide plenty of exercise, play, and enrichment. She would thrive with a family that understands how to raise a large, active pup into a well-mannered adult. Because she can be jumpy when excited and is unaware of her size, a home with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) is recommended. A home with another dog would be beneficial for companionship and to help her burn off energy. A cat-free home is preferred.
Ongoing Health
Gina is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is currently working on house training, but is reliably crate trained for up to 8 hours with no accidents.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and walks well on a leash. She does not show signs of separation anxiety. She prefers to eat her treats alone and is in a chewing phase, so she will need ongoing direction on appropriate chew items. Regular socialization and positive training will be key to her continued development.
