Meet Emmie, a truly extraordinary Australian Shepherd with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines! This 2-year-old, 30-pound girl is a double merle Aussie who navigates the world with courage and joy, despite being deaf and only seeing shadows. Emmie was found as a stray and is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She’s cheerful, active, and incredibly smart, enjoying car rides, long walks, and the simple pleasures of leaves, snow, and snuggling with her favorite person.

Ideal Home

Emmie thrives in quiet, peaceful environments with a calm, low-traffic household. Due to her visual and auditory impairments, she has not been tested with children, and adult-only homes are preferred. She bonds deeply with one caregiver but needs extra time and support to trust others. For this reason, all household members must participate as consistent caregivers and use treat-based interactions to build trust. Emmie requires a structured introduction protocol for new environments and people.

Training & Support

Emmie is fully housebroken and has mastered using a doggie door. She has learned "sit" through tactile cues and is working on additional commands. She gets along well with cats after a good sniff and most dogs after slow introductions. Indoors, she is calm, quiet, and not destructive. Because she startles easily, a double-strap harness and two-handle leash are recommended for outdoor walks to ensure her safety and enjoyment.
