Wanda is a sweet, approximately 2-3 year old, 38 lb Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who is as active and playful as she is loving. She was found wandering the streets of Matamoros, Mexico, malnourished and covered in ticks and fleas, clearly in search of a safe place and a meal. Despite her rough start, Wanda is a social butterfly with adults and thrives on attention.
Ideal Home
Wanda would do best in a home with experienced owners who understand her breed and are active enough to keep up with her energy. A family that enjoys outdoor activities and daily walks would be a perfect match. She'd prefer to be the only dog in the home, as she's not social with larger dogs and does best as a solo canine companion. A securely fenced backyard is a must for her to safely explore and play. She needs a family with an open mind about the needs of rescued animals, understanding their journey and providing the necessary protection and education. Patience and a background in dog behavior and training are highly valued for this special girl.
Ongoing Health
Wanda has received a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and tested for various common ailments. She has a negative heartworm test certificate and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are included.
Training & Support
Wanda is not yet house-trained, and her foster team has been unable to provide formal house-training due to the sheer number of animals they care for. She will require a patient adopter who is willing to dedicate time and effort to help her learn this important skill. Her foster team emphasizes the need for high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies, and Wanda will benefit greatly from an owner with experience in dog behavior and training.
