Jack

Meet Jack, a one-of-a-kind Blue Heeler mix with an unforgettable smile. At one year old and 41 pounds, he is smart, athletic, loyal, curious, playful, affectionate, and wonderfully goofy. Rescued from a rural shelter outside Houston, Jack has had a difficult start, but once he feels safe, his loving personality shines.

Jack loves being with his people, going on adventures, playing fetch, and cuddling up for belly rubs. He is obsessed with stuffies and balls, and he is an excellent fetch player. He is also highly food motivated and eager to learn.

Ideal Home

Jack needs an active, committed family familiar with cattle dogs and able to provide exercise, mental stimulation, structure, and enrichment. Hiking, running, obedience, agility, fetch, training games, and daily adventures would suit him well.

He is dog-friendly and enjoys canine playmates, though a dog sibling is not required if his family provides plenty of activity and socialization. Jack loves children and enjoys running and playing with them. He can become mouthy and nibbly when excited, which his foster family describes as harmless cattle-dog behavior.

Jack is still building confidence in busy, unfamiliar environments and may be nervous around unfamiliar people. With patience, consistency, and time, he warms up quickly once he feels safe.

Ongoing Health

Jack is vaccinated and neutered.

Training & Support

Jack is house-trained, does beautifully in his kennel, and sleeps quietly through the night. He also enjoys sleeping close to his humans. He knows sit and down, and his intelligence, food motivation, and eagerness to learn make training rewarding.
