Pekoe

Meet Pekoe, a sweet Dachshund/Jack Russell mix who takes life at her own pace. Pekoe, affectionately known as Pokey, is a gentle soul who came to us from a difficult backyard breeder hoarding situation. For much of her life, her purpose was simply to be a mother, and now it's finally her time to be cherished.

Since arriving in foster care, Pekoe has begun to blossom. She is crate-trained, potty-trained, and gets along well with other dogs. Her temperament is incredibly sweet and gentle; even when frightened, she has never shown aggression. Pekoe can be a bit shy and startles easily, so she would thrive in a calm and patient environment where she can continue to build her confidence. Her crate is her sanctuary, and she often enjoys napping inside.

Pekoe's favorite pastime is playing with toys! The sound of a squeaky toy is all it takes to get her moving. She'll excitedly grab her prize and carry it back to her bed, where she carefully hoards her treasures. Her foster mom empties her collection daily, and Pekoe patiently returns each toy. Witnessing Pekoe experience kindness, comfort, and love has been a heartwarming experience. She is still growing, but she is already showing herself to be a loyal and devoted companion.

Pekoe would do best in a quiet and patient home where she can continue to build confidence.

Pekoe is crate-trained and potty-trained. She can be shy and startles easily, so continued patience and a calm environment will help her thrive.
