Machika is a sweet Akita mix, about 2–3 years old and weighing 53 lbs. She’s calm, loving, and truly enjoys the simple joys of life—walks on a leash, relaxing car rides as the perfect co-pilot, and running freely in the garden with her doggy friends. She can be a little selective with other dogs and does best in a cat-free home, but she’s always eager to share her gentle nature with people. Machika’s past was not easy—she spent much of her life on the streets, facing cold nights and even abuse. Thanks to kind neighbors, she began receiving food and care, and eventually, she was rescued. Despite everything she endured, Machika blossomed into a trusting, affectionate dog who longs for human companionship. She was once abandoned, but what Machika truly deserves is much more: a real home, filled with love and security, where she’ll never again feel loneliness or fear. Machika is ready to be the loyal, loving companion you’ve been searching for!
It's essential to recognize that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period in a new home. Patience and understanding are crucial when welcoming a rescued dog into your life. They may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt to new environments and people. By providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and showing patience, you can help build trust and strengthen the bond with your new companion.
Machika is up-to-date on all her vaccinations, including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. She has also been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and tested negative for heartworm. She receives monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Machika is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, or a willingness to hire a trainer, to help this intelligent dog thrive. Patience and tolerance are key for success with this perfectly imperfect girl!

Transportation:
Machika is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. A transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. We organize 3-4 trips per year with a dedicated transport company that ensures a safe and comfortable journey for all our pets. You'll receive real-time updates throughout the journey.
