Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix weighing 40 pounds, with an estimated adult weight on the larger side. He was rescued with his mother and siblings from a rural dumping area and has grown up loved and cared for in a foster home. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore and announce his presence with confidence and curiosity. He's an expert climber and loves to play keep-away with his toys, often initiating playtime with his siblings. Now that he's a bit older, he's starting to settle into an incredible companion, still full of playful energy but also enjoying cuddles. He is potty trained, though a few accidents may occur as he adjusts to a new routine. While generally fearless, he can be briefly hesitant with new experiences before diving back into the action. He adores food and always finds his way to the front of the line. After a day of adventures, he transforms into a cuddly lap buddy. Loki loves people and other dogs, and he recently charmed adults and children alike at a community event. He's greeted with enthusiasm and brings joy wherever he goes. He has some crate experience and has been around children, but his tolerance for cats is unknown. He is continuing to work on leash skills and basic obedience, showing eagerness to learn.
Ideal Home
Loki is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. He would thrive in a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. If a home does not have another dog, a comprehensive plan for continued socialization through training classes, daycare, or playdates will be considered. Due to his age, he would do best in a home where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Loki is a young, healthy dog who has received all age-appropriate vaccinations and has been microchipped.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained but may have occasional accidents as he adjusts to a new environment. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Continued positive reinforcement, consistency, and socialization are essential for his continued development.
