Meet Baxter! 🐾🤎
Baxter is a handsome, smart, and well-mannered boy who has quickly become a favorite in his foster home. He settled in immediately, getting along wonderfully with other dogs and the resident cat. Baxter is house-trained, dog-door trained, walks nicely on a leash, and has great manners around food, respectfully giving other pets their space at mealtime. He's also a great sleeper and loves being close to his people, sometimes a little too close! He's known to be an enthusiastic face-licker, but with a little training, he's become more of an "air lopper," showing his affection without the slobber. Baxter is a 50-pound cuddle bug who loves to be wherever his people are – couch, chair, or bed!
He's a confident and obedient dog who responds well to training and enjoys having a job to do. Food is a great motivator for him (he'd happily eat three meals a day!), and he adores toys, especially stuffed ones. Baxter keeps a close eye on his surroundings and will alert you to newcomers, but he quickly returns to his loving and welcoming self. One of his favorite activities is swimming – he absolutely loves the water! He would thrive in a home that can offer him outdoor adventures, playtime, and plenty of enrichment. Baxter has been off-leash and boundary-trained with excellent recall, but he will need continued training and consistency with his new family before being trusted off-leash.
Ideal Home
Baxter is looking for a home where he is truly part of the family. He needs a family that can provide him with plenty of love, attention, activity, and companionship from both people and other animals. He is not a dog for being left alone for long periods or kept on the sidelines.
