Meet Barkley! This sweet, silly hound boy is 4 years old and weighs in at a hefty 95lbs. He's neutered and up-to-date on all his vaccines, ready to find his forever family! Barkley melts hearts with his big brown eyes, floppy face, and ears like velvet. He's a professional snuggler who loves to lay his giant head on your lap and will happily follow you around, content to just be near you while you go about your day. While he's mostly a low-energy lounger, Barkley does get bursts of playful energy a few times a day and would absolutely adore a fenced-in yard to romp and play in.
He's a social butterfly who enjoys the company of other dogs and would be happy as a solo pet as well. He does tend to be a little pushy during play with other dogs, as the resident grumpy senior dog in his foster home isn't a fan of his enthusiastic, full-contact style. Barkley is a toy enthusiast who will entertain himself by throwing and fetching a ball – it's hilarious to watch! He's gentle with children and has lived with kids aged 5-13, getting along wonderfully with them. However, his strong tail can be a bit enthusiastic and might accidentally knock over very young children, though he never means to be so excited! His tail is constantly wagging, a true testament to his happy and loving nature.
Barkley walks nicely on a harness, despite his strength, and knows commands like "sit" and "drop it" with his toys. He's also remarkably quiet for a hound, only offering a low bark or howl when he spots the neighbor, and he doesn't overdo it. Above all, Barkley adores his people and wants to spend as much time with them as possible. He could be the perfect companion for a single person or a family, especially someone who works from home and can have him close by. Barkley has so much love to give and can't wait to settle into his forever home!
