About Romina
Romina is a beautiful young pup, about 1 year and 8 months old, weighing 57 lbs. She has an incredible spirit and a big heart that shines through her playful personality. Romina had a tough start to life, found abandoned and injured. After rescue and vet care, it was discovered she had an old hip fracture that had healed on its own. While one of her legs is slightly shorter, it doesn’t slow her down one bit! She is full of energy and loves to run, chase balls, chew toys, and enjoy tasty treats. Romina is loyal, curious, and affectionate with people. She gets along well with other dogs and has experience with cats, though she can be a bit rough during play, so supervision is recommended. She is social and enjoys the company of both kids and adults. Romina is used to sleeping in her crate, walks nicely on a leash, and has a strong bark. As she is still young and enjoys chewing, she will thrive in a home that offers structure, playtime, and lots of love.
Ideal Home
Romina would do best in a home with a tall, fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. Families who are looking to truly rescue a dog and have an open conscience about the needs of rescued animals, including their potential need for protection and education, are ideal. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. She also needs a family with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.
Ongoing Health
Romina has a healed old hip fracture, resulting in one leg being slightly shorter than the others. She has received her spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. She is up-to-date on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventatives and has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Romina enjoys chewing and will need a home that can provide her with appropriate chew toys and structure. She is not house-trained and will require patience and consistency in this area. She also tends to bark when other dogs do, so her new family should be prepared for her strong voice. Understanding that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences is crucial, and patience and understanding will help build trust and strengthen the bond.
