About Dahlia

A060929 Dahlia is a 7-year-old, 60-pound Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix who is as sweet as can be and believes she's a lap dog! She's a joyful girl who loves her morning walks, meeting new people, and exploring the world with her nose. Dahlia came to us with some health concerns: irritated eyes and a severe flea allergy that caused thinning fur and irritated skin. She's been receiving medicated eye drops and baths, and she's been a trooper through it all! Her eyes are healing beautifully and are a striking glacier blue with a unique sectoral heterochromia in her left eye, and her coat is already looking much healthier.

Ideal Home

Dahlia would thrive in a home where she can share her affection and enjoy plenty of outdoor adventures. Because she can pull on the leash with her exuberance, a confident handler and some leash training would be beneficial.

Ongoing Health

Dahlia is being treated for a non-contagious eye irritation and a flea allergy. She is responding well to her treatments, including medicated eye drops and baths, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Training & Support

Dahlia can be strong and may pull on the leash, so consistent leash training with a confident handler will help her learn to walk politely. She also tends to lean over other dogs when meeting them, which could indicate a dominant personality or simply confidence. While not alarming, further observation and management may be beneficial as she settles into a new home. She keeps her kennel tidy, suggesting she may be easy to house-train. Information about her compatibility with cats is not yet available.
