Maya

Maya is a 67 lb sweetheart who is eager to find her forever family. She was surrendered by her owner due to some health concerns. When she arrived at Cortez, she had a mammary tumor, was extremely anemic and required a blood transfusion, and was diagnosed with Tick Fever. The tumor has since been removed, and she is doing wonderfully!

Maya is incredibly affectionate and will be your shadow. She's a happy girl who is always interested in meeting other dogs and shows no signs of aggression towards them. She has good manners in the house and enjoys being near her people. She's also happy to rest in her bed when you're away. Maya is a dream when it comes to medical care, patiently allowing her incisions to be tended to. Her absolute favorite thing is playing with balls – she gets so excited when one comes her way! Maya is a loving girl who just wants to be someone's special companion.

Maya would thrive in a home where she can be close to her family.

Ongoing Health

Maya's vet has recommended retesting for cancer every three months for up to a year. Local adoption is advised due to the potential costs of future treatment.

Training & Support

Maya has excellent house manners and comes when called. She is a cooperative and loving dog.
