Meet Rio! This adorable pup looks like a walking, wagging Oreo cookie, and he's just as sweet (though he does have a bit of a mischievous streak!). Rio is a playful and active young dog who loves to learn and is highly food motivated, making training a breeze. He already knows his name, "sit," "come," "down," and "rest for cooperative care," plus he's working on a hand target. He's a big fan of fetch and tug-of-war, and while he's still learning to share his toys, he's making great progress! Rio has floppy ears, a cute freckled snoot, and feet that might just smell like Frito pie – a true compliment, he's sure!

Ideal Home

Rio would thrive in a home that enjoys entertaining antics and is willing to provide extra guidance. He could be an only dog or live with a sturdy, chill dog his size or larger who is not easily annoyed and can tolerate his playful, sometimes mouthy, exuberance. He is NOT a good fit for homes with cats, as they are not approved toys.

Ongoing Health

Rio is a healthy pup! He is crate trained and handles bath time and nail trims well. He enjoys car rides but is still learning to be comfortable with restraints.

Training & Support

Rio is a fast learner who loves to train for treats! His foster mom, a professional trainer, is willing to share tips to help him continue on his path to being a great companion. He's working on his dog-on-dog skills and needs a patient, sturdy canine friend to help him learn appropriate play.
