Holt is a charming 5-month-old Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix with a sweet face, a sharp mind, and the wonderful temperament of a puppy eager to become someone's best friend. He's friendly, social, intelligent, and an all-around excellent young dog. Holt enjoys people, gets along with other dogs, and is even fine with cats. He's mastering the puppy basics, but as a baby, he'll need structure, training, patience, supervision, and a family dedicated to helping him blossom into the fantastic adult dog he's destined to be.
Ideal Home
Holt thrives in an active environment and needs a securely fenced yard where he can safely run, play, explore, and expend his puppy energy. He'll do best with a family that appreciates an engaged and bright dog and understands that smart puppies are always learning, sometimes things we don't even intend to teach them!
Ongoing Health
Holt is a healthy puppy.
Training & Support
Holt is a smart puppy and will benefit from consistent training, socialization, and patience. Like all puppies, he needs a family prepared for the commitment of raising a young dog. This includes:
- Potty Training: Be ready for flexible schedules, as puppies can only hold it for approximately one hour per month of age.
- Crate Training: Crate training is recommended until Holt is at least one year old to prevent chewing on inappropriate items when unsupervised.
- Socialization: Providing a variety of positive experiences, both inside and outside the home, is crucial for his development.
- Patience and Time: Raising a puppy is akin to having a human toddler. It takes about a year to cultivate a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Your patience will be richly rewarded.
