Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash is a handsome 2-year-old, 52-pound Sheltie/Heeler mix who spent much of his life waiting in a rural Texas shelter before finding his way to us. He is a smart, loyal, and eager-to-bond dog who is friendly with other dogs, walks nicely on leash, and is good with horses and not reactive to cattle. Despite his past, Johnny Cash is a playful and adventurous boy who loves being outdoors and wants to be part of his people's activities. He also has a softer side and enjoys curling up for couch time. He is intelligent and observant, thriving when he has a person to love and a purpose.

Ideal Home

Johnny Cash needs a loving and stable home where he can finally belong. Due to his prey drive, he cannot be in a home with cats or free-ranging chickens.

Ongoing Health

Johnny Cash is neutered. He appears to have some anxiety surrounding vehicles, likely from past experiences. While he has done well on car rides, it is recommended that he travels safely secured in a crate or kennel. With patience and consistency, his confidence will continue to grow.

Training & Support

Johnny Cash is not a "project dog" but is simply a dog who has spent too much time without a home. New environments can make him a little unsure at first, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines. What he needs most is belonging.
