Amos

Meet Amos! This happy hound mix is a bundle of pure joy, a young pup who’s already captured our hearts. We rescued Amos from a high-kill shelter that couldn't bear to part with such a wonderful dog. Once you meet him, you'll understand why! Amos is a friendly, energetic, and incredibly loving 1-year-old black and tan hound/retriever mix, weighing about 30 lbs. He's prone to enthusiastic jumping and has a lot of love to give, sometimes forgetting about personal space. But honestly, who wouldn't want to be the focus of his attention? He zooms around with excitement, especially when he knows he's loved! Amos is a gem of a dog with a big, beautiful personality, and we're sure you'll fall in love with him too.

Ideal Home

Amos would thrive in a home with plenty of activity, perhaps with another equally energetic dog to play with. He'd also make a fantastic hiking or running companion. A securely fenced yard is a must to keep this enthusiastic boy safe. While he'd likely do well with children, his excited jumping might be a bit much for very small toddlers.

Amos is a healthy young dog.

Training & Support

Amos's leash manners are currently a work in progress, but he's a smart pup who will learn with consistent training and patience. He's still working on understanding personal space due to his youthful exuberance.

• All adopters must complete an approval process, which includes a reference check with a current/recent vet and a brief home visit if you are local.
• We do permit out-of-state adoptions.

Transportation

Amos is located at Charles Smithgall Humane Society. Adopters must come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship or transport pets to their new homes.
