About Cupid

Cupid is a handsome mixed breed boy who is just about 2 years old and weighs between 45-50lbs. He's a resilient tripod who lost his rear leg after an unfortunate accident involving a car. After several surgeries and a period of recovery, his leg was amputated, and he's been thriving ever since! Cupid is a medium-high energy dog who adores children and is known to be great with other dogs and cats, though he does need to be taught good boundaries with felines. He knows commands like "sit," "down," and "leave it," and he’s learning to wait patiently before exiting his kennel or going through doors. Cupid's previous experience with another male dog led to some guarding behaviors, but he is doing wonderfully in his current foster home, especially with female dogs and can be left alone with toys. He bonds very closely with his people and would be happy as the sole dog in the home or with another well-established dog.

Ideal Home

Cupid would thrive in a home that can provide him with plenty of love and attention. A fenced yard is preferred for his medium-high energy levels. While he gets along with other dogs, he has shown a preference for female companions due to past negative experiences with male dogs. He is wonderful with children of all ages.

Ongoing Health

Cupid is a tripod who is in excellent health after his amputation and recovery. He is fully vetted and up to date on all preventative care.

Training & Support

Cupid is house and crate trained and can be left alone for several hours. He is currently working on his leash manners and needs continued positive reinforcement training, especially for walking politely. He is highly food motivated and eager to learn, making him a quick study. While he previously exhibited resource guarding, this has been managed successfully in his foster home with positive interventions.
