Shelby is a joyful, affectionate, and playful 6-month-old Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix who is ready to fill your home with love and laughter! She's currently 39 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown, with a long body type. Shelby was rescued from a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, along with her mom and sister, and has since thrived in her foster home. She's a curious and eager-to-learn pup who forms deep connections with her people, making every day feel special.
Ideal Home
Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys dog companionship and is patient with puppy training. She wants to be included in family adventures, whether it's hiking, walking, playing in the yard, or simply spending quality time together.
Ongoing Health
Shelby is a healthy puppy. Her adoption donation covers the cost of her transport to Washington.
Training & Support
Shelby is still learning basic training, but she's a quick study! She already knows how to sit, walks nicely on a harness, and plays appropriately with toys. She is in the process of house training, with significant progress made, and is expected to master it quickly with consistency. Shelby sleeps through the night in her crate but prefers to be near her people and other dogs. She may bark briefly when crated during the day but will settle. She should not be crated excessively as she is social and happiest when included in daily life. Shelby eats enthusiastically and would benefit from a slow feeder. While she has shown mild growling with her sister, it appears to be puppy competition for attention rather than true resource guarding, and she has had no issues with toys or treats around other dogs.
