Cricket and Mochi have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. These sweet, gentle, and loving girls are a bonded pair, and their story is one of resilience and hope. They came into rescue from a heartbreaking surrender of 10 dogs when their owner had to enter a nursing home. Project Freedom Ride stepped in to help bring every dog to safety, but Cricket and Mochi needed extra care. After multiple surgeries, dental work, and lots of TLC, these brave ladies are now healthy, comfortable, and ready to find their forever family—always together.
Ideal Home
Cricket and Mochi are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. A fenced yard is required, and they would not do well in an apartment as Cricket is still building leash confidence. Ideally, their new home would not have small children. They are dog-friendly and would prefer calm, respectful canine companions. They are 90% housebroken, though Mochi seems to be taking a little longer to catch on. Both girls are crate trained.
Ongoing Health
Mochi, a 7+ year old, 14 lb Wire-Haired Terrier Mix, had several masses removed that were all benign. While she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and is on medication, but is asymptomatic. Cricket, an 8+ year old, 13 lb Chihuahua, arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye, both of which have been successfully treated. She is now living pain-free.
Training & Support
Cricket is shy at first but melts into soft affection and belly rubs once she trusts you. She leans on Mochi for confidence. Mochi is the confident half of the duo and quietly watches over Cricket. Both girls love their treats; Mochi enjoys frozen Kongs, while Cricket prefers shredded chicken mixed with kibble.
