Hi, I'm Ava!
Not too long ago, the world was a very scary place. For nearly three months, I survived on my own while roaming the streets. Every day was about staying alive, and I learned to keep my distance and that being invisible felt safer than being seen. When rescuers finally trapped me, they didn't know if I'd ever learn to trust, but they gave me a chance anyway. That chance changed my life.
Since joining my rescue, I've been on a journey of healing and rehabilitation. Little by little, I've learned that kind hands can bring comfort, not fear. That people can be patient. That love doesn't have to be earned—it can be given freely. I'm still a shy girl when meeting new people, and I need a family that understands that trust takes time. But once you earn my heart, you'll discover the sweetest, most loyal companion imaginable. I form deep bonds with my people and love being close to those I trust.
I'm around 2 years old, full of life, and the perfect size at about 50 pounds. I have plenty of energy for adventures, walks, and playtime, but I also enjoy simply being near my favorite humans. I'm also housebroken and crate trained, making it even easier for me to settle into my forever home. I absolutely love other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion. I'm also wonderful with children. With slow, proper introductions, I could likely coexist peacefully with cats as well.
The best way to describe me is this: I'm a flower that blooms slowly. You won't see all of me on the first day, or even the first week. But if you're patient enough to let me unfold at my own pace, you'll be rewarded with a bond that is truly special. The dogs who have known fear often love the deepest once they realize they're finally safe. I've spent enough time surviving; now I'm ready to start living. I'm ready for a family who will celebrate every small victory, cherish every moment of trust, and love me for exactly who I am. Maybe that family is yours.
