Nico - Paws Behind Bars Prison Trained

Nico is an 8-year-old, 65-pound Mastiff/Malinois mix who has had a bit of a rough journey. He was adopted at 2 years old and loved dearly, but unfortunately, his family had to downsize to an apartment and couldn't keep two large dogs. Nico is a graduate of the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program, where he received impeccable basic obedience training. He knows commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," and even excels with advanced cues such as "peak," "place," and scent work. He has a low energy level, enjoys leisurely walks, and especially loves exploring the woods. Nico is incredibly loyal to his bonded person and is seeking a dog-savvy owner who can build a strong, mutual respect with him. He's a very intelligent dog, but due to his prey drive and past experiences, we believe he would thrive as the only dog in the household. Nico dreams of a home with a comfy dog bed, a fenced yard for basking in the sun, and the occasional drive-thru treat – he absolutely adores them! He can be a little hesitant in busy environments, and he's eager to "break out" into a peaceful home where he can enjoy his retirement with quiet walks and a serene life. His adoption fee has been sponsored.

Ideal Home

Nico would love a home with a comfy dog bed, a fenced yard, and a patient owner who can provide him with a quiet and peaceful life. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home due to his prey drive and past experiences.

Nico is neutered and vaccinated.

Nico is impeccably trained with basic obedience and advanced commands from the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program. He is known to be intelligent and loyal. We believe he would benefit from continued positive reinforcement and a consistent routine.
