Spur 🧡

Spur is a 2-3 year old, 23lb Australian Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a wiggle butt to match! He was rescued from a rural kill shelter after being found heartworm positive. Thankfully, he's completed his treatment and is now ready to find his forever family. Spur's past experiences have left him a bit timid, and he may have been subjected to physical abuse, but with a little TLC, he's blossomed into a wonderfully quirky and affectionate companion.

Spur's favorite things include an abundance of toys, playtime, and of course, food! He's a master of the "meerkat stance" when he wants attention, and he's not afraid to let you know he's there. If you're on the couch, Spur will be right beside you, nudging for pets. He's a very needy boy, but in the best way! He's house and crate trained, as long as he's taken out frequently.

Ideal Home

Spur would thrive in a home that understands he needs patience and slow introductions to new environments and friends. He can be a bit dominant with other dogs, so proper introductions are essential. He does enjoy the company of his canine playmates here at the shelter, so a home with another well-matched dog could be a great fit!

Spur has finished his heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Spur is still learning to navigate the world with good manners. Patience and consistent positive reinforcement will be key to his continued success. He needs slow and proper introductions to other dogs due to his dominance tendencies.
