George was born on November 10th, 2025, and has overcome a challenging start in life. He was tragically struck by a car, sustaining severe injuries to his lungs and jaw. Despite his owner's decision to euthanize, the emergency clinic advocated for his life, and he was surrendered to Mattie's Place. We took on his care, which included hospitalization and extensive veterinary treatment. George has now made a full recovery, with his jaw fully healed and no ongoing complications. He's a handsome, playful, and energetic puppy who loves everyone he meets.
Ideal Home
George would do best in a home with owners experienced with power breeds. A backyard would be ideal for him to enjoy his time outdoors, or an active adopter who enjoys outdoor adventures would also be a great fit. He is good with dogs, cats, and children.
Ongoing Health
George has received all necessary vaccinations, dewormer, and parasite prevention. He will be neutered at Mattie's Place on a non-negotiable adoption contract with a specified date in July 2026. He is currently at a healthy weight for his age and is expected to reach an adult weight of around 80 pounds.
Training & Support
Due to past food insecurity, George exhibits mild food resource guarding with other dogs. He is currently fed in his crate, which works exceptionally well for him, and his foster home has noted improvement. While he does not act aggressively, he may "whale eye" and stiffen if another dog approaches his food. He should continue to be fed in his crate for his lifetime. He is nearly house-trained with minimal accidents and alerts when he needs to go outside. He's learning to relax during meal times and doesn't have an issue with his food or toys being taken away.
