Zeus is a 3-year-old, 110lb male Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He's a big, sweet goofball who makes friends instantly and loves to lean on his favorite people. While he prefers the comfort of air conditioning, he'll happily join you outside, especially if there's a small critter to chase away! He's a smart cookie who keeps the yard free of squirrels, but he does have a strong prey drive, so he'll need supervision outdoors to prevent him from digging out. Zeus is good with female dogs and older children, but can be too rough for little ones and has a very high prey drive, so he's not suitable for homes with cats or other small animals. He also has a unique quirk: if he sees someone enter a swimming pool, he'll bark to ensure their safe exit, a remnant from a puppyhood scare. Zeus ended up in rescue due to aggression towards his brother, a condition that requires him to be kept separate from all male dogs.
Ideal Home
Zeus would do best in a home with a female dog only, and with older children who can handle his size. He is not a good fit for homes with male dogs, cats, or small animals. He prefers to be an indoor dog and needs a securely fenced yard with supervision when he's outside.
Ongoing Health
Zeus is up-to-date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo vaccinations. He has tested negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms. He has been neutered and microchipped.
Training & Support
Zeus knows "sit," "wait," and "stay." He walks well on a head halter, though he can pull on a regular collar. He is crate trained and can settle quietly in his crate unless he needs to potty. He is a quick learner and has excellent house manners – he's potty trained, doesn't beg, and doesn't counter surf. A home that enjoys training will help him continue to thrive.
