Choco is a kind and playful dog with an estimated birthdate of January 2017 and weighs approximately 13 lbs. He absolutely adores his dog friends and loves to spend time with his people. Choco is a good boy with other canines once he gets to know them. He came to us as a nearly feral dog, and while he has made incredible progress, he's still working on his confidence. He's not a dog who seeks out cuddles, but he enjoys being in the same space as you and thrives in a calm environment without high expectations. He's smart and loves treats and toys, especially chewy bones. He is still learning about walking on a leash, and it's unclear if this is something he will fully master. Getting to know Choco is incredibly rewarding, and we're looking for someone patient and dedicated to helping him be his best self, with an understanding of how to support shy dogs.
Ideal Home
Choco needs a securely fenced yard where he can romp and play with his canine friends. He does best in a home with other dogs and requests a visible, physical fence connected to the house. Shock or electronic fences will not be approved. This home should not be an apartment, though some condos or homes with a private fenced yard may be considered. He would do best in an adult-only home, with no children under 12 years of age.
Ongoing Health
All R.E.D. animals are spayed or neutered and vaccinated.
Training & Support
Choco is not always sure of new people, so a patient adopter is key. He is still learning to walk on a leash, and it's uncertain if he will ever be comfortable with it. He enjoys being near his people and needs an understanding of how to support a shy dog, especially under pressure.

Transporation
Choco is currently in foster care in Poulsbo, WA. Meet and greets will take place there. Adoptions are being considered for Western Washington and possibly Northern Oregon. No other out-of-state adoptions are available at this time.
