About Norma Jeane
Norma Jeane is a spirited 8-ish year old, 10lb poodle mix who is as playful and spunky as they come! While her previous shelter estimated her age at 10, our private vet believes she could be as young as 7, and she certainly acts like a lively, playful gal. Norma's world revolves around the ball – her ideal day would be filled with chasing it non-stop, with only short breaks for naps. An adopter who is committed to playing fetch with her at least four times a day is a must, as "ball is life" for this sweet girl.
Norma is wonderful with people, and she especially adores young children who are respectful of dogs. She lives harmoniously with a 4-year-old human child, showering him with attention and enjoying games of fetch together. While she is very sweet to others, Norma is not a cuddler. She prefers interactive play or independent time and is not a lap dog. If you're seeking an affectionate dog to snuggle with, Norma may not be the best fit. However, if you're looking for an awesome sidekick who's game for anything, Norma is the perfect companion!
She has a medium energy level. While she's not up for marathon walks, she'd enjoy accompanying you on outings, whether carried or in a stroller. Once back inside in the cool air with her beloved ball, it's playtime! Norma hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety and is non-destructive when left to roam freely. Her only ongoing training need is potty training. She'll go outside if the back door is left open, but if she's not supervised and the door is closed, accidents can happen indoors. She hasn't quite mastered signaling when she needs to go. She is, however, perfectly content and reliable in an extra-large crate, which she considers her palace, and never has accidents there, making it a great option when her humans are away. Norma is also a great car rider and loves watching the world go by from the window.
Norma lives with three other large dogs and coexists peacefully with them, showing little interest in engaging with them. She would be fine in a home with another dog, but she prefers calm companions and dislikes overly energetic dogs that invade her space. Another laid-back dog would be ideal, but she would also be perfectly content as a solo pup! Overall, Norma is a wonderful, lively little dog searching for her forever BFF to share life's adventures with.
Ideal Home
Norma Jeane would thrive in a home that can provide ample opportunities for fetch sessions throughout the day. She would do best with children who are gentle and respectful of dogs. She would also do well with a laid-back canine companion or as the sole pet.
Ongoing Health
Norma Jeane successfully completed heartworm treatment. She was unable to be spayed prior to treatment as her heartworm condition was the priority. The rescue will work with the adopter to schedule an appropriate spay date before she leaves.
Training & Support
Norma Jeane is a work in progress when it comes to potty training and requires consistent supervision and opportunities to go outside. She is crate trained and does not have accidents in her crate.
