Jazzy is a loving, playful, and intelligent 7-year-old German Shepherd/Collie mix who is currently enjoying her time in foster care. She weighs 95lbs and is spayed. Jazzy loves people and once she feels comfortable, she will come looking for affection, belly rubs, and her favorite thing of all... lots of butt scratches! After a few weeks of getting settled in a new environment, she loves nothing more than being close to her person and has gotten the hang of the routine of the home.
Her playful side shines when she's romping around with her foster's dog, Smokey. The two of them happily wrestle and play together throughout the day, but Jazzy is just as content to soak up love as the only dog. She is a wonderful balance of fun and cuddly, with an easygoing nature once she has had her exercise. Jazzy is very smart and eager to please. She already knows her basic commands like sit, down, paw, roll over, and come. She responds best to positive reinforcement and praise and relies on gentle guidance rather than a firm or harsh tone. Around the house, she has great manners, no counter surfing, no begging at mealtimes, and is fully house-trained!
Ideal Home
Jazzy would thrive in an active home where she can enjoy daily walks, playtime, and plenty of love. She could be a great match for a home with another well-matched dog, or just as happy being the center of attention.
Ongoing Health
Jazzy is currently overweight and is slowly losing weight in her foster home. She loves her daily walks and has been building up her stamina with her foster, happily going longer distances each day.
Training & Support
Like many dogs, Jazzy has a few challenges. She can display reactive behaviors toward other dogs, especially when on leash or in the car, where she may get vocal or worked up. With consistent redirection and praise, her foster has already seen improvements, and she responds well when given a clear cue. She can be protective of her home and may bark to alert, but she settles once reassured. Out on walks, she sometimes tries to scavenge, but a "leave it" command usually does the trick. Despite these challenges, she is affectionate, funny, and full of personality.
