Meet Penny, a bright-eyed, 2-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix who weighs about 62 pounds. This sweet girl has a big heart and a whole lot of love to give! Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing dog who truly thrives when she's active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always ready for her next adventure or a good cuddle session. Penny is a sensitive soul who has likely experienced past trauma and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care. She's incredibly affectionate and emotionally tuned into her people, showering them with love once she feels safe and understood.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively. She needs a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding, and doesn't expect perfection right away. A cat-free home is recommended due to her prey-driven behavior outdoors. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, she does best with confident, medium-to-large dogs who are comfortable setting healthy boundaries, as she's still learning proper doggy social etiquette and can be a bit strong during play.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and is learning to be more comfortable with separation. She prefers to be close to her people and may whine or bark when left alone, but this stems from her strong bond with her humans. She hasn't been crate trained yet. She has a soft spot for chewing on dog beds when bored, so keeping items picked up and food put away is recommended. She can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, which is managed with separation during mealtimes and treat times. These behaviors respond well to clear boundaries and respectful management. Penny is leash-trained and enjoys walks, hikes, runs, or sniffy adventures, but she needs an adopter who will go at her pace and give her time to relax into a routine.
