Avacado

Meet Avacado! This sweet, approximately 8-10 year old Chihuahua mix is a true survivor. She came to us from a severe hoarding situation where she endured harsh conditions, but her spirit remains strong. Avacado is a petite lady, weighing in at 10 pounds. Once she feels secure, she blossoms into a playful girl who enjoys a good cuddle session. She's already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She even underwent a dental procedure where 18 teeth were removed, but you'd never know it by her cheerful demeanor!

Ideal Home

Avacado is still a bit shy and reserved, often hiding initially, but she's making great progress and enjoys snuggling on the couch. A patient adopter who can help her build trust is key. While she's done well with children who are respectful, any kids in the home should be taught to interact gently with her. We haven't seen her interact with cats, but suspect she would do well.

Ongoing Health

Avacado is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She had a dental procedure where 18 teeth were removed.

Training & Support

Avacado is making strides with house training and is starting to use pee pads. She is mostly crate trained and generally quiet, though she may scratch to get out. She's learning to walk on a leash and is becoming quite proud of her progress, though loud noises can still startle her. Due to her past, she was fed separately to ensure she had enough food. While she's shown no issues sharing food with other dogs now, feeding her separately or in her crate can help her feel secure. Patience and understanding are essential as she continues to learn.
