Pepper -- URGENT -- LONGTIME RESIDENT

Pepper is a sweet and energetic 2-year, 8-month-old Shepherd mix who has been patiently waiting for her forever home for over a month. She's currently at the Kern County Animal Services shelter in Bakersfield and is eager to find a family to call her own. Pepper would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a hiking buddy or a fun-loving friend to join them on adventures. She's smart, engaged, walks well on a leash, and knows how to play fetch – her favorite game involves a ball!

Ideal Home

Pepper would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise. She enjoys car rides and exploring the outdoors. While she can get a little anxious at times, her chaperone noted she's good otherwise and enjoys being around people.

Ongoing Health

Pepper is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection, which is why finding her a safe home is so urgent.

Training & Support

Pepper walks well on a leash and knows how to fetch. Her chaperone recommended a doggie seat belt for car rides, as she likes to move between the front and back seats. Her behavior around other dogs is unknown.

Pepper is located at the Kern County Animal Services shelter in Bakersfield, CA. We can arrange transportation for adopters on the West Coast, though adopters will be responsible for transport fees.
