Summer - updated profile

It's summertime, and the perfect time to meet sweet, sweet Summer - a compact bundle of love and fun. She arrived together with her friend (sister?) Skye, and at first, we thought we needed to find them a home together. But after assessing them in their foster home, we realized that while they get along well with one another, they also like other dogs and love people, and would be okay moving on to new, separate lives.

Ideal Home

Summer would prefer a home with another friendly, playful dog. She is a champion cuddler, who wants nothing more than to be with you and feel loved. She is house trained and walks nicely on the leash, is good with dogs and cats. She has not been tested with children but is not timid or nervous, so would probably do well.

Ongoing Health

Summer tested positive for heartworm and received treatment. She has now completed her recovery and is doing fine.

Training & Support

Summer is house trained and walks nicely on the leash. She is not particularly barky but will let you know when someone is at the door or in the yard next door. When she wants something, like food or to go out or just a belly rub, she lets you know with a funny half howl, half whine which is uniquely hers. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. We strongly recommend all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
