About Six

Meet Six! This handsome boy is an adult Golden Retriever and Shepherd mix with a heart full of resilience and a deep capacity for love. Six's story is one of survival and second chances. After losing his person, he was surrendered to a shelter. Fear took over, and he escaped, surviving alone for six months on a rugged hillside. Most thought he was gone, until he was found and safely brought to A Way Home For Dogs. Despite everything, Six has shown incredible strength. He knew love once, and it still shows! He knows "sit" and "shake," is eager to please, and forms deep bonds once he feels safe. Today, he enjoys pack walks, car rides, and exploring with the right support. He's playful, food-motivated, and avoids conflict with other dogs. Six can be nervous in new situations and is still building confidence, especially around men. But once he trusts you, he is loyal, affectionate, and incredibly special.

Ideal Home

Six would do best in a home that's able to provide slow introductions to men. He can live with older kids, and another balanced dog would be a plus! He needs a patient, committed adopter to help him be his best self. A calm, structured home is ideal. He needs secure handling and careful management of doors and gates, and should be crated when unattended.

Ongoing Health

Six has been neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Six knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake." He is food-motivated and eager to learn. He can be nervous in new situations, especially around men, and will need patient introductions. He should not be let off-leash in unfenced areas.
