Some of life's greatest rewards come wrapped in a little extra patience-and Avalon is one of them.
This beautiful 3-year-old Chihuahua weighs just 7 pounds and is beginning her journey toward trusting people after coming from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. Because she had so little exposure to the outside world, Avalon can be nervous and may greet new people with barking when they first enter her space. It's simply her way of saying, "I'm not sure yet." Once she realizes you're safe, her guard begins to come down. Avalon will thrive in a calm, patient home with another friendly, confident small dog to help her build courage. Having a canine role model makes a world of difference for dogs like Avalon, and she truly needs that companionship to continue gaining confidence. She is potty pad trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car. Leashes are still a new concept for her, so she'll need a secure home and a family willing to let her learn at her own pace. Cats are unknown, and because she startles easily, she is looking for a home without small children. Avalon isn't the dog who will race into your arms on day one-but she's the dog whose quiet trust will mean everything when you've earned it. Watching her transform from a timid little survivor into a confident, cherished companion is the kind of experience that changes both of your lives. If you have a gentle heart, a patient spirit, and a friendly little dog looking for a new best friend, Avalon may be exactly the missing piece your family has been waiting for.
