Poppy in TN

Poppy is a beautiful and incredibly sweet 5-year-old female Black and Tan Piebald Dachshund mix, weighing approximately 11 lbs. Her coat is soft and wirey, and she's as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. Poppy is a former breeder dog who is learning the ropes of being a cherished pet. She gets along wonderfully with her foster sisters, even sharing a dog bed with them. She's making great progress with her house training, with very few accidents, but her leash training is still a work in progress. Like many dogs who haven't had the chance to learn these skills early on, it's taking her a bit longer. However, Poppy is a smart girl who is motivated by treats, so with consistent training, she should master these new skills. She's looking for a loving home that can offer her the patience, understanding, and structure she needs to continue blossoming into the best companion she can be.

Ideal Home

Poppy would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and someone who is home more often than not. She needs a patient adopter who understands she's still learning. She is looking for a home with adults or older children (12+) as she can be scared by younger children. Sadly, apartments are not suitable for her.

Poppy is up to date on all her vaccinations and was spayed on 4/23/26. She is microchipped with Avid (000358301).

Training & Support

Poppy is working on her house training and leash manners. She is crate trained. Her adopters will need to be consistent with her training, offering patience and positive reinforcement.
